  • How do I store candles?

Store in a cool dry place in an airtight container.  An airtight container will preserve scent and color. Keep out of the sun and heat. Do not freeze.

How do I maintain my candles?

    Candle maintenance is very simple.

-trim wicks to 1/4" :  trimming wicks will prevent soot, help candle burn more efficiently, get more burn time for your canldes, and help the candle look better as you burn it.

-Use on a heat resistant surface to prevent damaging your furniture

-keep away from drafts, vents and flamable objects as well as children and pets

-never leave a burning candle unattended

How do I get what is left of my candle out of my candleholder?

You could do this one of two ways:

-wash with warm water and soap, maybe let it soak a little while

-place holder in freezer for 15 minutes, the wax should "pop" out

How do you know if there is lead in the wick?

Tak a piece of white paper-use copy paper, notebook paper, or a piece torn from some junk mail-and rub it across the tip of the wick. If an unburnt candles wick leaves a light gray pencil-like mark then there is lead in the wick.

Why do I have little balls on the wick?

Thes little "balls" or "mushrooms" are from carbon build up and is normal for candles.  You can prevent them by trimming your wicks to 1/4".

    What are the better candles?

There has never ben a candle wax to be considered harmful or toxic to human health. When candle waxes are in high quality variations, they burn cleanly and safely. The "best" quality type of wax or wax blend does not exist. They are equally as good if in high quality form.

My pillar candle is leaking, can I fix it?

This depends on how bad it is leaking.  You may be able to save it by "hugging" or lightly pressing the edges of the candle towards the center allowing the warmth from the flame to melt it and keep it burning evenly.

In the future when burning a pillar candle:

-make sure it is not in a drafty place

    -"hug" the candle

-keep the wick trimmed to 1/4"

-burn pillar candles for 1 hour per inch in diameter it is. If you have a 3" candle burn it for a minimum of 3 hours at a time.

How can I find an exceptional quality candle?

Look on this page http://www.deezcandleholders.com/candleinformation/html (write it down or put in your favorites)

I have been trying different candles so that I can answer this question. I have only been able to try 2 companies as of now but I intend to try more and post my experience with these candles on this page.

    1. genwax.com.... I tried their highly scented 15 hour votives.  I was impressed. They burned fairly well, leaving just a light film of wax when it was done. I was able to pull the metal pin out and replace the candle without cleaning the holder first. I also tried their 6x6 3 wick candle.  It was decent, burned pretty well and the price was reasonable. I would recommend their candles. Visit thier site, if you would like to see what they offer:http://www.genwax.com

    2.  candlewacks.com....These folks offer quite a variety of stuff.  Anything from baby shower gifts to custom made candles.  They offer you the option of picking a scent for your color.  So, if you wanted to, you could have a peach scented blue candle.  They have several items that I find interesting.  I tried thier 'cute as a button' votives I did not have luck with them.  When I lit them they would go out.  1 out of 5 actually burned all the way and it didn't burn well.  Now, this may be just the luck of the draw.  They may actually have a better product than I received.  Sometimes, it does happen to where it really counts it is the person who gets the one bad batch.  So I would give them another try.  I like what they have on their website and that makes it worth it to try again.       I also tried thier scented gel tealights, those I enjoyed.  They last as long as a votive and they have a really nice scent.  If you wish to visit them, click here:  http://www.candlewacks.com

NEXT:  wicksend.com they state on their website that they stay informed on candle research and they have high quality control.  I am going to find out what they offer........3/8/2008   I tried to order from wicksend.com.  If they have what I wanted I couldn't find it.  I am looking to sample scented votives and pillars, maybe tealights.  They either didn't have what I wanted or I simply couldn't find it on their site.  I also don't like that you have to create an account to order.  That seems strange.  It is possible that I couldn't see everything without creating an account.  But I don't want to create an account unless I find something I want to order.  So, I didn't order from them.  Instead I went looking for more sites to sample candles from.  I found DiscountCandle.com....I was able to find some scented votives and pillars so I ordered them.  Once I try them I will let you know how it went.........Thanks for reading

3/29/08  I have tried the candles from DiscountCandle.com.  They sell Candle-Lite Candles.  The candles burn very nicely, leave a clean votive holder and the pillar is burning great.  Very evenly.  However.  The one thing I don't like about these candles is the lack of scent.  They do not fill my house with the scent.  But I do like their website, shipping was descent, they got here in a reasonable amount of time and they do burn well.....I have to work on finding another one.  Again, Thanks for reading.
